Top Reasons to Get a Hair Transplant

There are many physical attributes that make a person attractive, and hair is an important one. Healthy hair, skin and teeth signify youth and vitality in a person but age can take a toll on all of these. An early onset of hair loss especially can change the whole appearance of a person. And unfortunately, often it is beyond our control.

Hair transplant is touted as the best solution for permanent hair loss, and it is a very advanced procedure and promises natural looking results. It is also readily available and affordable.

Let’s discuss in detail why should a person consider getting a hair transplant:

  1. Hair loss is real

Apart from all the other things we inherit from our parents; we could be inheriting their hair loss genes as well. Genetic hair loss in men is especially common, and it hits a high percentage of men. The age at which male pattern baldness or Androgenic Alopecia starts in varies, it can even start as early as the twenties, and it can be accelerated by an unhealthy lifestyle, poor nutrition or illness.

And, as of now there are no other permanent solutions to genetic hair loss, other than a hair transplant.

  1. It will help your career

It is a bitter pill to swallow but appearances do matter. And not just in your social or personal life, but in theworkspace as well. Studies show that people who are perceived as attractive are promoted overothers. Psychologists believe thatbetter-looking people are considered fecund, vital, youthful and therefore more productive. Attractive people are also seen as more persuasive and hence showing more leadership potential. How you look might be important in jobs that require meeting people.

Looking attractive is not necessarily about being beautiful or handsome, but perhaps looking well put together, looking healthy, and being neatly dressed. And having a head full of hair can add to general attractiveness.

It can therefore be a good idea to get a transplant rather than live with thin hair or baldness and be perceived as older, and hence less-enthusiastic or unproductive.

  1. Hair loss can be detrimental to mental health

Hair loss does not just effect how you look, but it can seriously affect your mental health as well. Hair loss is known to cause stress, anxiety, a loss of self-confidence, and can affect a person’s social, personal and professional interactions. It can also lead to people disconnecting from friends, family or from general social life as they fear looking old or unattractive, and being judged or made fun of.

Hair loss can even cause Body Dysmorphic Disorder, or BDD in some people. BDD is a body-imagedisorder characterized by persistent and intrusive preoccupations with animagined or slight defect in one’s appearance, according to the Anxiety andDepression Association of America (ADAA).

  1. Hair transplants are advanced

Hair transplant procedures today are sophisticated and deliver natural results. The days of doll-like hair or “pluggy” transplants are long gone; in fact now people can barely tell whethersomeone has undergone a hair transplant or not.

There are two types of procedures that the surgeons around the world use today – FUT and FUE. FUT or Follicular Unit Transplant is a method of hair restoration that involves excising a strip of scalp from the permanent donor area of the scalp, converting it into follicular units and implanting them on to the bald areas. FUE involves using really fine punches to harvest individual follicles, and implanting them onto the bald areas.

Both of thee are minimally invasive, have a short recovery period and are almost painless.

  1. It’s affordable

Hair transplants are not just for the rich and the famous anymore, they are very reasonable especially in a country like India. While a hair transplant in the UK can cost anything between £3,000 – £15, 000, about $4,000 to $15,000 in the U.S., in India it is much cheaper. The surgery will cost about Rs 30,000 to Rs 1,50,000, (about $450-$2300). The remarkable price difference does not mean the surgery is any different in India; in fact you will get an experienced surgeon and the same quality of treatment as in any developed country. The kind of procedures offered is also the same as any other parts of the world. Both the FUT and FUE procedures are available in the country.

  1. It can change how people perceive your attractiveness

The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) conducted a research and found out that a hair transplant can boost confidence, and change people’s perception of your age and attractiveness.

The researchers at the association showed the participants of the study, side-by- side photographs of men before and after a hair transplant. Of the 13 pairs of photos that were shown, 7 men had undergone a hair transplant procedure.

The participants had to compare the images. And they had to evaluate each photograph for age, attractiveness, successfulness, and approachability. The study concluded that men who underwent hair transplant were rated as looking more youthful, attractive, successful, andapproachable.

While hair loss may be irreversible, it does not have to mean that you have to suffer the consequences of it. Hair transplant can make life after hair loss much easier.
